Life a long life. Have a backup plan.TM
Most of my clients are busy professionals in their 30s or 40s who have young children and no plans to die anytime soon. Some are into their 70s. They hire me to draft their wills and put into place advance directives (for health care), powers of attorney (for finances) and, if needed, standby guardianship paperwork. I have named these documents Starter WillsTM because they are often, not always, a client's first venture into the estate planning realm.
Please read further to find out whether a Starter Will works for you.
A Starter WillTM is a possible first stage and comprehensive approach to your estate plan. Much like a starter home, a "starter will" is a manageable entry-point into wills and other estate planning documents. Also, like a starter home, you may later move on from this initial plan or find that it serves you for a number of years to come.
Many of us avoid planning our estates because the variety of choices arrests us. In addition, there is too much to process - what do I want to happen if and when I die? Fortunately, I have addressed these questions with many clients and can give you perspective, insight and guidance.
Peace of Mind
If you have delayed in planning your estate, don't put it off any longer. Find peace of mind by engaging compassionate legal counsel to help you through the process. Let's get your estate "house" in order, in case you happen to need it sooner than you expected.
And, after all the seriousness, smile and remember why it's so important in the first place:
taking care of your loved ones!
Sincerely,
Lawyer & Mom
